So I've talked about core capsules on this blog but never before has it been so relevant. I don't want to keep beating the same old "holy shit my weight has changed a lot" drum but even my wedding ring literally falls off. It was nuts when it was 10 pounds in a month, now we're at 25 in three months (it's stabilized for now THANK GOD). I think a lot of us have had changes (pregnancy, bodies after baby, weight loss, weight gain) where the image in your head doesn't match the reality. I've had to send a lot of stuff back because I kept ordering the wrong size. I would talk myself into a different size when it came to adding it to my cart even when I knew better. I knew it but I didn't believe it. So that was a weird hurdle to get over.

Not a hurdle (weird or otherwise) to get over? Buying fall clothing. Don't need an excuse for that! But it was a little different this year in that I wasn't buying to fill in holes, I was buying what I will actually be wearing on a day to day basis. I still have some sweaters, cardigans, blazers, etc that still work so what I needed was the base pieces to fill it out.

I started with the color scheme: black, white, navy, cream with pink and cognac. Be warned, I am someone who has zero problem combining brown & black or navy & brown. Love it in fact. So there's that. I actually ordered this houndstooth J.Crew skirt too which would have worked beautifully in this capsule but it had thick, bunchy elastic on the back and I would have had to size down to get it to fit right and I didn't want to do that through the mail. It's super cute but try it on at a store if you can!

Anyways, I've ended up with 10 pieces I'm really happy with (I also got these Uniqlo leggings pants). There's a few more things I'm chasing down. I need a new everyday coat so I'm probably going to get the ubiquitous black Patagonia puffer coat (you know the one), and I'd like a pair of ugly-cute sneakers for down days and to fulfill my Parisienne in Alaska fantasies.

You know how bloggers tell you they love a piece and how it's going to be a staple in the upcoming season and then the readers never see it again? This is going to be the opposite of that LOL. In the next few weeks I'm going to show you how I mix and match this new clothing into my existing wardrobe.
