August Nights
So I was somewhat amused to find that people find belting a pregnant belly kind of annoying. Most of the annoyance comes from the belief that the pregnant women are making sure you know they're with child, and not fat. Soooorrrrt of?
I mean, with my gigantic boobs and growing belly I'd rather not look like an egg with 4 toothpicks jammed in it. Doesn't really have so much to do with weight - I'm just trying to create ANY shape. And most maternity tops try to do the same - creating an empire waist or coming in with elastic right under the belly. I guess it just doesn't seem as obnoxious when the garment is doing the work for you?
I'm not arguing against the article, I belt for vanity and am OK with getting eye rolls for it (but I don't think it's uncomfortable as many commenters suggest). Just thought it was funny anyone felt strongly about it. (And have you guys read Shamepuff? It's interesting and can be constructive - sometimes the comments devolve a little into OMGSTUPIDUGLYDUMBBLOGGERS but I just try to ignore that).
On a final note - holy smokes, it's hot.

I am all for belting the belly! I hate looking like a tent...so the belt is a logical option :)
I'm pretty sure the article was originally written because the writer doesn't agree with that ladies view on other things....not so much the belly belt....well basically it looked like the writer was against her for one thing, but chose to write about something completely different.
I don't understand at all why pregnant belly belting would be "annoying"...or negative in any way? I for one appreciated the effort to have a shape and keep your style fun and unique! This dress to me looks adorable belted, and you look absolutely darling.

When I was pregnant, the last thing I wanted was something constricting my breathing, which is exactly what a belt around the ribcage would do. So no belts for me, but then again, I didn't wear any dresses, I just wore jeggings (ugh, hate that word) and long shirts everyday.
And I LOVE SHAMEPUFF. I'm a huge GOMI fan and yeah, I agree sometimes comments can get a little bit nasty, but overall I think it's hilarious and nice to see honest feedback.
I've never been pregnant, but for the love, if you want to belt, belt. If you don't, don't. Who the heck would be irritated either way? Silly peoples.
I find it hilarious that there is a whole post dedicated to the very serious issue of Belting vs. Non-Belting. The answer is simple - do whatever feels and looks good for you! And I'm now thrilled to be introduced to Shamepuff snark.
Wow, so beautiful with the dress.
